Chapter 1
I rib Sandra about her Pembroke upbringing. To her credit, she is extremely well grounded. This small town 'girl' is very cosmopolitan as you
can see from her photo. Just joking!!!. I and
scores of others can tell you that the photo does not do her justice. In my opinion she could have been a model. Not that I'd be the first to say that. Imagine a beautiful,
intelligent C programmer who can tolerate 'guys' humor. WOW !!!
A couple of years ago, I offered her Team Leader, Allan, 2 first round draft choices and one future consideration if he let her join IS (Information Services). The
additional incentive was that the money would come out of the IS budget. He was no fool, he knew what he had. I guess you know what the response was.
She is the other half of the 900 team with Rob Tolman, when she is not working on the other products. She
and Rob have a great working relationship. They are
like brother and sister. I haven't seen this type of relationship since the early days of Lavalife.
Sandra's level headedness has allowed her to balance her profession life with her personal life. Something that is pretty unique in
today's chaotic technology crazed world. My hat's off to you.
I remember her telling me that she had a dream about me delivering her baby. What ??? Yep !!!. I thought she was delusional or popped too
many beans or something. You know what Sandra, when Captain Kick FINALLY marries you, I'd be proud to deliver your baby.
Chapter 2
Two years after leaving Lavalife, Craig and I helped to recruit her. So fortune shined on me twice.
This time around, I was able to get to know her on a more personal basis. She is way cooler and way too practical.
However, history was repeating itself it regards to the working conditions. Sandra dedicated herself to her work and ultimately making personal sacrifices.
I left after 5 years, but felt totally responsible for the situation I placed her in. Sorry!!!
The Here and Now
Sandra is like a sister. She is blood as word is bond. I'll never be able to repay her for her trust and friendship.
This time around we'll just stay friends. You know just hanging out. I truly hope she'll be able to enjoy life with her hubby!!!
