Richard was IMG's Point-of-Sale expert. With his customer focus he had developed an application that was in production forever.
He wore every hat; from Systems Analyst, DBA, Developer, Trainer, Tech Support to Help Desk.
He possesses that fiery French Canadian conviction in his beliefs of what is right. He does what's right not what's popular. His marketing
background at Olgivy & Mather's has served him well.
I know it was tough during the NOP YEARS having to endure the continual cries of "legacy" code and "this sucks" from hordes of Renaissance's "expert" consultants. Consultants who by the way blew millions and produced software that had to be chucked.
So has anyone taken the time to calculate the ROI or even the Cost of Ownership? At least Richard got the last laugh. Who's the amateur now B?.
Why doesn't "management" trust the views and expertise of their own in-house experts? That's the 64 billion dollar question. Here's a tip. Try investing in your people instead of squandering it on people who don't have a vested interest. Well, besides their billings!!!
He like Sandra Carmody have been able to balance his personal and professional life.
Sandra are you listening. Good, at least Richard has a kid.
I've worked with Richard for roughly 6 years and he too just gets the job done. He cares and is passionate about his work. He will not accept
mediocrity. He questions when people should question. Some people take this to being Black Hat. I'll put it this way, if you can not justify or provide a rational answer
then what's that make you?
Richard, I wish you well. Keep up the good work. By the way, he's working at The Toronto Star.
