Road Map

Current Version

The current version is 3.11 BETA (2003). I love when people have the word BETA in their software. So me too!!! Well, I do "experiment" with new hacks everyone once in while.

dragonCrew.com was designed and hand coded by myself mega ages ago. OOP's, I'm also responsible for the copy - sorry.

Next Gen dragonCrew.com

I don't have time to rewrite or change the skin / theme / template. OK, I'm wimping out. All I want to do is plug and play and save the real development for $$$. Oh yeah, I forgot. I'll have to do some contra stuff to get the B to create some rounded corners. BTW, B told me that in the corporate world, rounded corners are must have in site design. Unfortunately, I'd have to agree! I thought I had read that rounded corners are no longer in vogue.

My objective is to find an open source PHP CMS, portal or even a Wiki app OR maybe even Ning. I've been checking out and evaluating Joomla! which is a fork of Mambo. Here's an article explaining the Open-source Mambo project faces rift. The other product that looks Xtremely promising is Drupal. However, MODx looks even better because it's Web 2.0 ready!!!

If you're looking for something that's free, checkout opensourceCMS. opensourceCMS allows you to demo a ton of open source CMS apps!. What else could you ask for. You can also check out Open Source CMS Evaluation - Part I: Installation and Part II: Customization.

Here's an interesting comparison of Drupal vs Wordpress vs Postnuke vs Mambo in terms of security advisories. The lines around CMS are really blurring. Wiki's are becoming the next gen CMS. I'm definitely hacking with Tikiwiki

OR I could start tooling around with Ruby on Rails (Hosters) and create the next Web 2.0 CMS! Yikes, I just gave away an idea. Ah, it's OK. As if the patent would hold up!!! Anyway, I'd be willing to bet that there are stealthy basement dwellers munching on it already.

Out of Scope

Blogging? I probably won't be engaging in that activity. Why blog when you can be doing!!! It's better to search out the subject experts rather than adding to the noise.

Do you remember the early days of blogging? The mentality was that if you weren't blogging you didn't exist. I blog therefore, I am.
